Image of the workshop Scaffold Inspection

Every day, millions of professionals use scaffolding to work at height, especially in the construction, maintenance, and industrial sectors. Yet, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), around 25% of fatal workplace falls involve scaffolds.

These accidents—often avoidable—are typically caused by:

  • Structural failures (planks, couplers, uprights)
  • Lack of fall protection
  • Falling objects from above
  • Improper setup or use of the scaffold

To prevent such incidents, every worker must be trained to conduct thorough scaffold inspections. That’s exactly what our Augmented Reality simulator provides—accessible directly from a smartphone.

A Realistic, Immersive AR Simulator

Using the camera on a smartphone or tablet, trainees access a life-sized, photorealistic 3D scaffold, seamlessly integrated into their real environment—whether at the office, at home, or during on-site training.

They can:

  • Inspect the scaffold from every angle
  • Virtually climb the structure using a ladder
  • Observe critical details and common defects
  • Train safely, in highly realistic conditions

The simulation is built on real-world scenarios, validated by safety experts.

Learning Objectives

This training is designed to build strong, lasting inspection skills, enabling participants to:

  • Recognize critical safety defects in scaffolds
  • Master OSHA-recommended safety checkpoints
  • Adopt a proactive approach to risk identification
  • Prevent falls and injuries from falling objects

Target Audience

This training is suitable for anyone who works on or around scaffolding, including:

  • Construction workers
  • Scaffold assemblers
  • Site supervisors
  • HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) managers
  • Maintenance or inspection personnel

Whether beginner or experienced, this module simulates a real-life inspection, safely and effectively.

Included Training Scenario

Trainees inspect 4 scaffolds featuring a total of 20 realistic defects, such as:

  • Missing or improvised couplers (e.g. replaced with rope)
  • Non-compliant or missing wedges
  • Rust-damaged or cracked uprights
  • Guardrails installed outside the frame
  • Damaged or misaligned ladders
  • Planks spaced too far apart or unstable
  • Outdated inspection tags (with dynamic date updates)

The trainee must detect anomalies from both the ground and elevated positions, exploring all access areas. They can interact with the structure, zoom in, move freely, and receive real-time instructional feedback.

Why Choose This Training?

  • Smartphone-ready – No VR headset or complex setup required
  • Life-sized simulation – Exceptional realism, approved by experts
  • Zero physical risk – Safe, practical training anytime, anywhere
  • Standards-compliant – Based on OSHA and EU regulations
