Industrial Risks: When Virtual Reality Prepares Citizens for Emergencies
Industrial Risks: When Virtual Reality Prepares Citizens for Emergencies

When the alert siren sounds, do you really know what to do? In an emergency, stress often overrides theory. Yet, when facing industrial risks, knowing the right reflexes saves lives. This is why Immersive Factory is proud to participate in the project: "Knowing how to protect yourself in the event of an industrial accident."
The Project: A coalition of experts for everyone's safety
Led by the ICSI (Institute for an Industrial Safety Culture), this ambitious project aims to overhaul how we raise awareness among the general public and employees regarding major technological risks.
The goal is clear: to move beyond simple information and toward the acquisition of real safety reflexes, specifically the crucial distinction between sheltering in place (confinement) and evacuation.
To achieve this, the project relies on a consortium of key stakeholders ensuring both expertise and national deployment, including the Ministry for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, Forestry, Sea, and Fisheries, AMARIS (The national association of local authorities for the control of major technological risks), AFPCNT (The French Association for Natural and Technological Disaster Risk Reduction).
Immersive Factory's Role: Learning by doing
Why is Virtual Reality essential to this initiative? Because we never remember quite as well as when we are "doing."
Immersive Factory brings its expertise in immersive pedagogical engineering to design the training tools of tomorrow. Our solutions allow learners to be plunged into a simulated industrial accident scenario in a completely safe environment.
By experiencing the situation virtually, users don't just read an instruction; they practice it. They learn to identify the alert signal, choose the correct behavior (sealing openings, turning off ventilation, etc.), and manage their stress. This builds the "muscle memory" and emotional resilience that will make all the difference in a real-life situation.
We are honored to put our technology at the service of the general interest and to collaborate with the ICSI and all our partners on this vital project.
